Political parties are what make up politics. It goes back to high school and clicks, a matter of popularity. Who fits in with who or simply who likes who. Noone likes to be an outcast, noone likes to be a minority. Especially if they were at first the majority. Its never fun being on top then all of a sudden being on bottom. Well that’s what the republican party is feeling right now. At least in the congressional seats. Im not one that is necessarily for democrats, or im not necessarily for republicans, or liberals, and in favor of any other particular party. However, I do like to see how each party reacts to different situations.
For once the democrats are in the majority. Members of the democratic party are no longer the outcasts they are “on top,” or at least republicans are realizing that their political power is not as strong as it used to be. Instead of staying they are fleeing, with “dignity.” Instead of staying in offices which are basically guaranteed, they are leaving simply because they are outnumbered. I think it’s somewhat funny. When democrats were outnumbered they stayed and continued to run for office hoping that they would eventually make a change or make a difference. Cant say the same for those republicans that hold congressional seats. These seat holders are not going to continue holding that title. Instead they’re retiring or simply not returning for further terms. They say its so they can run for higher offices or for personal reasons. Why all of a sudden do they want to retire or pursue these things when they are outnumbered. Are they running in fear? Aren’t these supposed to be people that stand up for what they believe, fight for their thoughts and ideas, fight for policies they believe in.
I guess they don’t want to have to sit things out and really fight for want they want, maybe they should try learning from those that stayed when things weren’t in their favor. IGNORANCE!!! "House votes to expand children's health insurance program"
Healthcare something that affects EVERY human being alive, it’s the prevention, treatment, and management of health related issues. Everybody needs it, it is inevitable to go throughout life without getting sick, or simply having to go to the doctor at least once. Healthcare is what makes these necessary moderate to severe doctor appointments and visits possible. It is how we can go to the doctor. Why doesn’t President Bush think this issue is important? Why doesn’t he feel healthcare should be accessible to more than those that can easily afford it? The United States of America has no interest in improving the health of its citizens, they aren’t concerned with preserving our youth!
SCHIP a program started by President Clinton to provide healthcare coverage to those that didn’t qualify for medicaid, but didn’t have the money to pay for healthcare. Basically making it possible for those that were in the lose, lose situation financially to have access to health coverage. This program is not eternal, so it has to be renewed and improved over time. So this is why House recently voted to expand this children healthcare program. A good idea because it shows us Americans as being less selfish. We tend to have the "us four and no more mentality," meaning that if it doesn’t involve "me" it doesn’t matter. At least that’s what I think when I see that Bush tried to veto this act.
Many countries have free healthcare for their citizens, why can’t we? Why don’t we make it easier for those that cant afford it to have it? Instead Bush chooses to spend billions of dollars on the war in Iraq, wasting money! Now he wants to veto this SCHIP extension! If this veto passes it will add to his list of veto’s. It seems like he overrides things that are beneficial to a large amount of US citizens.
House won this vote why does Bush have to go in and mess it up. Maybe because giving money to a program that helps approximately 6.6 million children will take away from his spending ideas. If it affected him in some way I know he would feel differently. Just like if it was one of his family members in Iraq he wouldn’t have vetoed the bill to bring troops home early. I feel that Bush, in my opinion is simply selfish!
People need to stand up for what they believe. Bush is President to "help" our country. That means the rich and the poor the fortunate and less fortunate. So give to those that don’t have. Our country has the money to do it so DO IT!

Racism, Far From Over!
Racism, simply the idea that ones race determines ones place in life. A belief that many Americans spent their lives trying to eliminate. Martin Luther King Jr. one of the most memorable Civil Rights activists risked his life on a daily basis for the idea of racial equality. It’s unfortunate that the very cause he fought to end is still very prominent in the world today. We have seen horrific acts of racism everywhere in this new millennium alone. Now racism is being broadcasted close to home in Jena, LA.
Jena, Louisiana the sight of what many Americans call an act of racism. Here six young African American boys were accused of committing various crimes for an assault on a young white boy. The six young men accused of these charges are being punished in a manner more severely than the white teens involved. How can a criminal offense compare to a suspension from school? There is no comparison, but it seems as if because the six boys are black in town of 85% white Americans they operate with double standards. All of this because of a common gathering place, why did the idea of sitting under a tree bring imprisonment for these young boys.
As time has passed the severity of the charges against these six boys have been lessened and for one dropped. Why is Bell still behind bars after charges were dropped by the appeal’s court? Perhaps because the color of his skin, the simple fact that his skin produces more melanoma than a white person. Why let skin colors influence your decision? Why is ones skin color the determining factor for ones freedom?
